December’s child

Winter is finally here! There’s something about the colder months that makes me feel powerful. Being born in December, I always say that the wind and rain is in my blood. So here’s a wintry outfit, at least by my standards. Dark, dramatic and not a sleeve in sight.

This dress is from Ovate, one of my absolute favorite designers. It was one of those pieces that I stared at for months, worrying about the price, but finally had to give into because it’s just so beautiful. If I was filthy rich I would buy everything they made.

The acid wash circle scarf is from American Apparel, and the leather vest was found in a custom t-shirt shop in my native San Francisco. It’s 100% recycled leather, so it was broken-in and soft right off the rack. I keep debating whether or not to put a backpatch on it, but I’m worried I’m going to ruin it with my inexperience – I’ve never sewn leather before. So for now, it just has a few spikes on the shoulders.

A close-up to give you a sense of just how much material this scarf is made of. If the whole thing is unwound, it’s yards upon yards of cloth.

These shoes are the Climber boot by Jeffrey Campbell. They’re a few years old, but I live in them. They have wonderfully solid construction (way better than newer Jeffrey Campbell shoes) and the vintage ski buckles are so unique.

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS LIPGLOSS. This is Celestial Black by Givenchy, and it is a galaxy in a tube. I’m wearing it in the outfit photos, but it’s quite subtle – it goes on as a barely perceptible grey with a multicolored iridescent shimmer. I couldn’t get a decent photo of it on my lips (my breath kept fogging up the camera lens) so a photo in the tube will have to do. It’s gorgeous.

And lastly, here’s a photo of me looking possessed, because why not.

Discovered your blog today! Exact same taste in clothes like me. I have been eyeballin’ that Runes dress for 3 months now on Ovate! Lucky girl! If customs wasn’t that expensive to fucking South Africa I would say hells yeah.

    Anyhoo.
    Keep it up, lady! :)
